 2007: a gaming retrospective
2007 was a great year for gaming, no doubt about
it. With great games galore and new systems to
explore it really was a very good year. 2007 was
the first year of the new console wars. Xbox 360
vs. PS3 vs. Wii. and it sure was interesting. The
presumption was that it was going to be a two
machine race with the PS3 having superior power and
the Xbox having a full year on the competition
enabling it to have many more quality games. But
2007 shocked the analysts and the Wii became a
force to be reckoned with and has become the best
selling system of this console battle. In the
handheld department the DS continued it's global
dominance but the PSP was no slouch and while not
hitting the popularity of the DS it had a strong
year. But really throughout the whole year it was
the games that made 2007 so special. Some of the
greatest games have been released this year. From
hardcore blockbuster sequels like God of War 2,
Halo 3, Metroid Prime 3, and Call of Duty 4 to
amazing new franchises like Bioshock, Uncharted,
Mass Effect, and Zack and Wiki. From innovative
titles like Super Mario Galaxy, and The legend of
Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and the Orange Box's
Portal to music games like Rock Band and Guitar
Hero 3. This was the year for games. The amount of
quality titles is really amazing. I can't rmember a
year in which I have had so many fresh and exciting
times playing games. From Bioshock to Orange Box to
Galaxy it has been outstanding. And those are my
three nominees for game of the year (which I will
announce in a blog this weekend). 2008 is here and
it looks promising. But I don't know if it can ever
live up to the year that was 2007.

Well thanks for fixing the blog the very hour
that Star Fox month ENDED! >:( But it's good to
see this site up and running again, though your
pics on the homepage don't seem to be working
for me. This was a fine year for me as well, for
this is the year that my Star Fox rage began. I
believe it began around September, and from then
till now here are my SF accomplishments: I got
assault, beat all three modes on it, got
everything extra it has to offer (except 5 gold
medals), I borrowed a copy of adventures from El
Much and beat that, I got 5 endings in command
(2 of them I got in the last hour of 2007!), and
I borrowed a copy of 64 and got 29/30 medals for
it, which pretty much unlocks everything except
for the new title screen. My plans for 2008? Get
those last 5 gold medals in assault, those last
four endings in command, and that last medal in
64.

Game of the year, eh? I vote for GALAXY. No wait, super paper
mario! On second thought, how about portal-orange box?

Yeah! I have finally mastered Star Fox 64! I've
gotten everything it has to offer, all the
medals, all the Vs. modes, EVERYTHING!! After
getting all 30 medals, I got a new title screen
for the game's main page! It's SWEET!!

gaming corner: I just beat "Portal". A very
short game, but muchly fun and a challenging
final boss. I also got 2 more endings for SFC
bringing my total up to 7.

MY favorite level? Hm. That's a toughy. I kinda
like the beginning ones because as you get
further it becomes less about "speedy-thing-
comes-in; speedy-thing-comes-out" and becomes
more about "get light-ball into mahine thing"
Ooh! But I REALLY liked my companion cube! It
was so sad having to burn it up... That last
level was cool, but not quite my cup o' tea.
